Neighbourhood Plan

The draft plan for Weston and Crewe Green is now at the Regulation 17 and 18 Examination stage. The Examiner's procedural matters letter and questions can be seen below along with our answers.

The Weston and Basford Neighbourhood Plan was originally Made on the 16 November 2017.
The Plan was modified in July 2023 to take account of changes in both National and Local policy. The plan area covers the old Weston and Basford Parish.

The Weston & Basford Neighbourhood Plan modification was made on the 20 February 2024. The plan and associated documents can be viewed on the Cheshire East Neighbourhood plan page and now forms part of the statutory planning process giving added support to the Local Plan for Cheshire East in the determining of planning applications within the parish: View Weston & Basford Neighbourhood Plan.

The Weston and Crewe Green Neighbourhood Plan is being produced by the Parish Council and will seek to replace the Weston and Basford Neighbourhood Plan once made: View the Cheshire East Weston and Crewe Green Neighbourhood Plan page.

Regulation 14 Consultation

The draft Weston and Crewe Green plan has now been produced and can be viewed via the document links on this page.

Before the Plan can be formally submitted to Cheshire East (the Local Planning Authority) for independent examination, the regulations require a six-week pre consultation period, known as Regulation 14. The regulation 14 consultation began on the 24 July 2025, and closed on the 12 September 2025.

Regulation 15 Submission

Following the Regulation 14 Consultation, all comments made have been taken on board, including those of Cheshire East and outside statutory bodies. The final draft, along with the associated  documents, was formally submitted to Cheshire East Council under Regulation 15 on 26 November 2025.

This  in effect transfers the ownership of the plan from the Parish Council to Cheshire East (the Local Planning Authority). Cheshire East will publicise the plan under Regulation 16 for further consultation before an independent examination is held. The independent inspector will review the plan to ensure compliance and assess whether a referendum will be required before the plan is adopted by Cheshire East.

Regulation 16 Consultation

The Regulation 16 consultation began on the 5 January 2026 and closed on the 16 February 2026. To view the draft plan and view the representations made please visit the Cheshire East consultation portal.

Regulation 17 & 18 Examination
